HARP Charity Shop Manager
Salary £16,440-£18,453 (Point 16-19)

Description
HARP needs a hard-working and innovative Shop Manager who truly understands the people of Southend to turn our charity shop into a commercial success.

About the role
HARP needs shop managers who are commercially minded: hard-working people with initiative and imagination to drive our profits and help us to realise our vision of breaking the cycle of homelessness. We’re currently recruiting a Shop Manager to take the lead in our Westcliff shop, managing a diverse team of volunteers and work experience trainees, displaying products, coordinating incoming stock and being responsible for the takings which help fund our services to help Southend's homeless.

About you
Whilst experience in retail is essential, your understanding of social training enterprises and a passionate approach to work is an absolute must. Managing one of the charity shops that fund our services, you’ll need to use your skills in leadership to develop an ethic of exceptional customer service amongst your diverse team. You’ll also need to employ a flexible approach to managing your shop: prioritising tasks, focussing on the look and feel of the window display or shop floor and coordinating incoming stock. It’s all go and every day will be different. As every penny of profit is valuable, you’ll also need strong numerical skills. A basic knowledge of IT or till systems will help you along your way as our shops continue to fund our vitally important homeless services.

About us
HARP is the leading charity in Southend dedicated to helping the homeless and those at risk of homelessness. Our daily work has turned around the lives of several hundred each year. With a small staff team, we are developing as a complex, dynamic and diverse charity.

Essential Criteria

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a retail environment

  • A positive and service orientated attitude

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • A natural team player, is supportive and enthusiastic

  • A flexible approach

  • Demonstrates an understanding of charity retail

  • Experience of leadership

  • Comfortable with till systems

  • Strong numerical skills
