SCHOOLS SLEEP IN

The Schools Trophy is back up for grabs, is your school up to the challenge?!

Get in touch now to find out more!

Our Really Big South Essex Sleep IN 2020 will be taking place around 10th October 2020 to mark World Homeless Day. This is a fun packed way for children in the local area to learn about a growing issue in our community, raise much needed funds for those less fortunate, and have a great time whilst doing so!

This year, we are again inviting schools to take part in the event and try to get their hands on the trophy!

St Helen's Catholic Primary School claimed the crown in 2019. Who will it be this year?

As well as learning about some of the hardships that local homeless people face through special HARP assemblies, St Helen's also raised over £2,085 – an incredible amount that makes a huge difference to our work. Former Sleep Out Champion, Chalkwell Hall, came in a very close second, raising a fantastic £2,063.

Mr Hanshaw, Chalkwell Hall Deputy Head, said:

“The event ticked a lot of boxes for us as a school. Children got to experience a night away from home to prepare them for future school trips, and educationally they got to learn about one of the biggest social issues of our time that affects lots of local people. It was a pleasure to support HARP through The Really Big South Essex Sleep Out, and we were so proud to raise over £2,000 for such a worthy cause.”

At HARP, we believe that everyone should have a place to call their own and that no one should be sleeping on the streets in this day and age.

We provide a comprehensive service to help single homeless people get back on their feet and integrate back into the community. The money raised through The Really Big South Essex Sleep IN will go towards helping local homeless people in Southend and the surrounding areas.

If you feel that this is something your whole school community would like to become involved with, or maybe some of your pupils might like to host their own event with their families, then please get in touch with our team for more information or to book in a Sleep Out information assembly.
